About Robworks IT
Who you'll be working with
Robworks IT is run by Ryan Robson, who has managed IT for small businesses for more than 25 years. He started young as the person local companies called when something broke, and has run their networks, email, servers and PCs ever since.
When you call Robworks IT, you reach Ryan directly - every time. No ticket queue, no rotating techs, no explaining your setup twice.
You stay in control
Every account, license and piece of hardware stays in your name. Robworks IT is your administrator, not your owner. Everything is documented, and if you ever move on, you get a full handover.
Background
- 11 years at cPanel, the company behind the software that runs a large share of the world's web hosting servers
- Four years as a Windows Server specialist at a major Houston data center and hosting company, now part of IBM Cloud, three times named support rep of the month
- After-hours server work for a Houston-area managed IT provider's clients: an insurance agency, a trucking company, a marine business, a child-care center
- Managed IT for Houston-area small businesses, including a dental practice, a law firm, a construction company and medical offices - servers, Exchange, Active Directory and firewalls, about two dozen built from scratch
- Nearly 20 years looking after a Houston manufacturer's IT: servers, VPNs between offices, remote access, an accounting system tied into warehouse machinery, its QuickBooks server, and its web site, email and internet service
- 24/7 systems for an EMS and air ambulance service: dispatch machines and the laptops in the ambulances
- Independent IT consulting for Houston small businesses
Recent work
For a Houston HVAC contractor, all finished:
Slow internet, traced to the server
A Houston HVAC contractor's lookups were running through an expired firewall. Lookup times were halved, and the worst case went from 0.7 seconds to 0.05.
The 3 PM dropout
Four days of server logs ruled out the obvious causes and pointed to the fix. Confirmed on a live afternoon watch.
Backups that were quietly failing
Fixed, and successful every day since. The backup software was patched overnight against an actively exploited flaw, with no downtime during business hours.
Email someone else was reading
518 messages in 10 days were being copied to an outside inbox. Stopped, outside forwarding locked down, and spoofing protection (DMARC and DKIM) turned on.
Taking over from a departing IT provider
Secure remote access with no open firewall ports, a silent agent rollout, and every PC moved from a blocking security product to Microsoft Defender, each one checked.
A server on one power supply
The server had been running on one of its two power supplies for months. We found it and flagged it.
Before Robworks IT
Earlier work, for other Houston-area businesses:
A dental office, the night before patients
A new server broke patient check-in the night before patients were due. Fixed that night.
A construction firm's server
A badly built server, stabilized overnight.
An insurance agency's security assessment
A formal written security assessment of the agency's network.
A manufacturer's email and web site move
Email and the web site moved between hosts without losing mail.
